A Passion for Christ and Compassion for People

Here at White Street, we endeavor to be a church with a passion for Christ and compassion for people.  We believe that this can be achieved by pursuing the following Four Principles:

Principle One – Passionate Worship

We believe that a Passionate Follower of Christ is one that engages in passionate worship.  In the words of the psalmist “As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.” (Psalm 42:1, NKJV)

Principle Two – Passionate Study

We believe that a Passionate Follower of Christ is one that passionately pursues the knowledge of God.  The prophet Hosea says “Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD”. (Hosea 6:3, ESV) Christ says “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3, ESV)

Principle Three – Loving Fellowship

We believe that a Compassionate Follower of Christ is one that engages in loving fellowship with other believers. “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” (1 John 4:20, NIV)

Principle Four – Compassionate Service

We believe that a Compassionate Follower of Christ is one that engages in compassionate service.  John writes “If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion – how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” (1 John 3:17-18, NLT)

In following these principles we believe that our lives will closely resemble the life of our Saviour and bring great glory to God!
